BD Alaris™ Asset Management

Improve your infusion fleet management and staff workflow efficiency with real-time* visibility to device status and room-level† location, and analytics that transform information into actionable insights.

BD Alaris™ Asset Management helps you manage your BD Alaris™ System devices to improve their utilization and staff efficiency, while reducing soft costs like wasted time and resources and preventing hard costs such as loss, theft or additional rentals. It utilizes wireless integration with RTLS vendors, such as STANLEY Healthcare, who provide the RTLS platform and wireless tags affixed to the devices. In addition, BD Alaris™ Asset Management provides real-time* visibility to room-level† location and status—ON/OFF, available, in-use—of your BD Alaris™ PC Unit, BD Alaris™ Pump and BD Alaris™ Syringe Modules.

Feature / Benefits

Utilization reports

Manage asset utilization on a daily basis by tracking the amount of time each asset spends in a certain status, such as available, in cleaning, or in maintenance.

Periodic automatic replenishment (PAR) level reports

Optimize inventory in each department to meet patient demand, by managing threshold levels.

Instant alerts

Notify hospital staff when an asset approaches a hospital exit for equipment loss prevention.

Alaris™ Auto-ID Module

Use an infusion device that can help decrease programming errors

The Alaris™ auto-ID module provides a way to automate infusion parameter input, thereby decreasing the number of manual steps necessary to enter infusion data and thereby decreasing the chance of programming error.

Unique barcoding

It captures the patient ID, clinician ID and drug information, increasing visibility and helping you monitor infusions.

Added tamper-resistance protection

Authorized User Mode combines the tamper resist feature with auto-ID to ensure only clinicians with a barcode on their ID badge can program the BD Alaris™ system.

Alaris EtCO2 Module

Enable continuous EtCO2 monitoring (capnography) across patient care areas

The Alaris EtCO2 Module, integrated with Alaris PCA Module, enables continuous respiratory monitoring to help reduce risks of opioid-induced respiratory depression. EtCO2 module functionality pauses a PCA infusion if the patient’s respiratory status falls below hospital-defined limits. The EtCO2 module can also be used as a stand alone monitor.

PCA Pause

The PCA infusion pauses if the patient’s respiratory status declines below hospital-defined parameters.

Enhanced patient safety

It supports industry best practice recommendations for continuous monitoring of opioid patients.

Patient protection

It supports reduced length of stay and transfers to higher levels of care.

Alaris PCA Module

Integrate your hardware platform and user interface

The Alaris PCA module integrates a syringe-based patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) device with large volume pump (LVP), syringe and EtCO2 modules on a single hardware platform.

Reduced respiratory failure

The PCA infusion pauses if the patient’s respiratory rate falls below hospital-defined limits.

Monitoring for all at-risk patients

The EtCO2 module follows industry best practice recommendations for continuous electronic monitoring.

Decreased adverse drug events

BD Alaris™ Guardrails™ Suite MX safety software helps reduce adverse drug events.

BD Alaris™ PC Unit

Target infusion needs using a modular platform

The BD Alaris™ PC unit is the foundation of a modular platform that lets you customize infusion delivery by adding large volume, PCA, syringe, patient monitoring and barcoding modules. It wirelessly transmits key drug and IV therapy data using Alaris™ Guardrails™ Suite MX software, centralizing access to infusion and monitoring data.

Wireless connectivity

The common user interface lets you easily download and upload key infusion drug and IV therapy data from the BD Alaris™ system.

Powerful analytics

The BD Alaris System with Guardrails Suite MX includes powerful analytic software to help identify trends in IV formulary data to help optimize patient care.

BD Alaris™ Pump Module

Efficiently deliver large volume infusions

The BD Alaris™ pump module is a large volume infusion pump that continuously or intermittently delivers fluids, medications, blood and blood products to adult, pediatric or neonatal patients. Clinicians can attach up to four infusion modules, allowing four independent infusions on a single BD Alaris™ PC unit.

Channel status display

An LCD screen displays the IV drug or fluid name, dose and rate, and color indicators of the channel status.

BD Guardrails™ Suite MX software support

The pump module supports Guardrails™ suite MX software, helping reduce the risk of medication error.

Primary and secondary support

The pump module supports primary and secondary “piggyback” delivery.

Alaris™ Syringe Module

Helps ensure accurate medication delivery

The Alaris™ Syringe Module is intended for the delivery of fluids, medications, blood and blood products using continuous or intermittent delivery. It works with the Alaris™ PC Unit and combines precision instrumentation with BD Alaris™ Guardrails™ Suite MX software to help ensure accurate medication delivery.

Accurate flow rates

The module provides flow rates from 0.01 to 999 mL/hr and accuracy +/- 2% of full scale plunger travel (not including syringe variation).

Syringe size flexibility

The module accepts syringe sizes from 1 to 60 mL, automatically detecting the size.

Unique pressure-sensing disc

The disc helps shorten time to alarm, monitor in-line pressure and decrease inadvertent bolus following occlusion release.

BD Alaris™ Systems Manager

Communicate data wirelessly

The BD Alaris™ Systems Manager is infusion device management software that wirelessly retrieves infusion information, updates drug libraries and captures data analytics. It also synchronizes smart pump activity across hospitals or IDNs. This easy, routine access to data can help drive best practices.

Streamlines operation

The software captures data analytics information and
deploys the drug library to infusion systems.

Easy implementation

BD Alaris™ Systems Manager can be rapidly implemented without disruption,
requiring minimal resources and bandwidth.
