BD

  • Unique barcoding It captures the patient ID, clinician ID and drug information, increasing visibility and helping you monitor infusions.
Added tamper-resistance protection Authorized User Mode combines the tamper resist feature with auto-ID to ensure only clinicians with a barcode on their ID badge can program the BD Alaris™ system.
  • PCA Pause The PCA infusion pauses if the patient’s respiratory status declines below hospital-defined parameters.
Enhanced patient safety It supports industry best practice recommendations for continuous monitoring of opioid patients.
Patient protection It supports reduced length of stay and transfers to higher levels of care.
  • Reduced respiratory failure The PCA infusion pauses if the patient’s respiratory rate falls below hospital-defined limits.
Monitoring for all at-risk patients The EtCO2 module follows industry best practice recommendations for continuous electronic monitoring.
Decreased adverse drug events BD Alaris™ Guardrails™ Suite MX safety software helps reduce adverse drug events.
  • Accurate flow rates The module provides flow rates from 0.01 to 999 mL/hr and accuracy +/- 2% of full scale plunger travel (not including syringe variation).
Syringe size flexibility The module accepts syringe sizes from 1 to 60 mL, automatically detecting the size.
Unique pressure-sensing disc The disc helps shorten time to alarm, monitor in-line pressure and decrease inadvertent bolus following occlusion release.
  • Feature / Benefits
Utilization reports Manage asset utilization on a daily basis by tracking the amount of time each asset spends in a certain status, such as available, in cleaning, or in maintenance.

Periodic automatic replenishment (PAR) level reports Optimize inventory in each department to meet patient demand, by managing threshold levels.

Instant alerts Notify hospital staff when an asset approaches a hospital exit for equipment loss prevention.
  • Wireless connectivity The common user interface lets you easily download and upload key infusion drug and IV therapy data from the BD Alaris™ system.
Powerful analytics The BD Alaris System with Guardrails Suite MX includes powerful analytic software to help identify trends in IV formulary data to help optimize patient care.
  • Channel status display An LCD screen displays the IV drug or fluid name, dose and rate, and color indicators of the channel status.
BD Guardrails™ Suite MX software support The pump module supports Guardrails™ suite MX software, helping reduce the risk of medication error.
Primary and secondary support The pump module supports primary and secondary “piggyback” delivery.
  • Streamlines operation The software captures data analytics information and deploys the drug library to infusion systems.
Easy implementation BD Alaris™ Systems Manager can be rapidly implemented without disruption, requiring minimal resources and bandwidth.
  • The BD BACTEC™ FX blood culture system builds on the proven history of previous BD BACTEC™ instrumentation, with advanced fluorescence detection technology, exceptional media performance and instrument reliability—adding vial-activated workflow, advanced ergonomics, blood culture observation and customer-focused data management. The easy-to-use workflow comes in a compact, modular design, which can be adapted to multiple space- and time-saving configurations for your laboratory staff.
Intuitive capabilities The system enables a unique vial-activated workflow that helps reduce hands-on time, identifies anonymous vials and utilizes an interface with a conveniently located LCD touch screen, status indicators and a barcode scanner at each module. Innovative design The system offers efficient workflow in a compact, modular format. Intelligent data management It provides data management with enhanced blood culture observation—in and out of the laboratory, helping reduce workflow interruptions and communicate preliminary or final results to caregivers. Quick detection By helping detect positive blood cultures early, the system may also help you more quickly implement therapy to positively affect patient outcomes and reduce lengths of stay.
  • BD BACTEC™ Lytic Anaerobic medium lyses blood cells, releasing intracellular organisms.
  • BD BACTEC™ Plus Aerobic medium effectively neutralizes a wide range of antimicrobials.
  • BD BACTEC™ Plus Anaerobic medium supports the growth of anaerobic organisms and contains resins to neutralize antibiotics.
  • BD BACTEC™ Standard Aerobic medium is an enriched soybean-casein digest broth for recovery of aerobic organisms.
  • BD BACTEC™ Standard Anaerobic medium is designed to recover anaerobic microorganisms from blood.
  • BD BBL™ Isolator Pack plated media, in gamma-irradiated packs, work with isolator systems. To use the product, place the wrapped package of plates in the isolator before running the vaporized hydrogen peroxide decontamination cycle. When the isolator aeration cycle has finished, remove the two outermost wrappings, and then remove the sterile inner wrapping. Sterility The product is validated for performance and sterility according to Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) guidelines. Transport bag The product includes an inner bag you can use to transport plates from your critical environment. Available media Media include D/E Neutralizing agar, Sabouraud Dextrose Agar with Lecithin and Polysorbate 80, and Trypticase™ Soy Agar with or without lecithin and polysorbate 80. Plate types Available plate types include the BD RODAC™ and RODAC Snap Lid plates for personnel and surface sampling, and BD Finger Dab™ (100mm and 150mm style) plates for sampling of gloved hands.
  • BD BBL™ prepared plated media enable the isolation of microorganisms from samples or specimens. Ready for immediate use, they are routinely available in several types of Petri-style dishes, containing a variety of media. BD Stacker™ dishes and BD Stacker™ I Plate™ dishes These 100-mm x 15-mm–style dishes interlock, minimizing the hazard of sliding dishes. BD Stacker dishes contain one medium. BD Stacker I Plate dishes with two sections contain one or two media. Quad plate 100-mm x 15-mm–style dishes These dishes feature four sections that each contain a different media formulation. BD RODAC™ and BD RODAC™ Snap Lid plates These plates are for surface sampling of microbial contamination, featuring a base with inward-sloping walls and a convex bottom designed to keep the agar bed in place during transit and use. The BD RODAC Snap Lid plate features a unique snap-locking system to provide additional security during sampling and transport.
